Yoga is currently „mega-in“, but my yoga sources date back to the „wild years“ of my studies. In the former GDR, yoga was regarded as something obscure, so there were no literature or courses about it. For example I had heard that with yoga, you can minimize the time of sleeping – super! I also thought 5 hours of sleep should be enough. I got some literature (from dubious sources) about this and began to read: „The left arm grows heavy, the right arm grows heavy. The left leg…“ 10 minutes should be enough to catch up 2 hours of sleep. Then there were strange body exercises (the so-called Hatha Yoga) which were supposed to have several beneficial results. I practised hard, hoping for short-term sleep and Buddhistic calmness. But neither one occurred, instead I was already having hallucinations because of sleep deprivation.

So I stopped with that nonsense! Several mistakes and years later I have recognized: without a yoga master, discipline and the appropriate mental attitude, it will not work. Today, yoga is a very important part of my life and there is hope that I am able to perform the “tree” even when I am 100 + X years old.
